"Lost and Found” exhibition by Pedrita Studio

Pedrita Studio is a multidisciplinary design studio based in Lisbon founded by Pedro Ferreira and Rita João. The duo has been using discontinued industrial tiles left by Ferreira’s grandfather for unique projects. The solo exhibition “Lost and Found” all started with a small, black-and-white photograph found on the street, with the inscription “my grandfather” scribbled on the back.

The duo use images that were found on the street as images on the tile installations  The images were analogue in the beginning as they were available on the internet. It took over the digital world, as the compositions of the tiles follow the principle of the pixel or photographic grain. Interestingly, the images were unrelated with one another, but under the unique style of Pedrita they seem to tell a story on the ideas loss and recovery of individual memories, collective referents, and cultural and identitarian heritage.

“Lost and Found” runs at Underdogs Gallery in Lisbon until 28 July.
