IWC has announced a special edition in collaboration with six-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton. The racer approached the watch brand with the idea of a watch in Bordeaux-red and gold, and the project started around the Watch Perpetual Calendar – a favourite model of Hamilton.
Limited to just 100 pieces, the “Lewis Hamilton” Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition (ref. IW503002) features a black zirconium oxide ceramic case and a Bordeaux-red dial, referencing the racer’s red helmet. The 46.5 mm watch is adorned with gold-plated hands, while the case-back ring, the rotor and the characteristic “cone crown” are made of 18-carat 5N gold. At the heart, the watch is the IWC 52615 calibre with seven-day power reserve. The perpetual calendar is made of only about 80 components and displays the date, day, month and year to four figures, as well as moon phase. Finishing the understated luxury look is the Bordeaux-red textile strap sharing the same shade as the dial.
