The Synergy In-Between
A. Lange & Söhne x Concorso d‘Eleganza

The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is one of the most notable and historical event dedicated to classic cars. It first took place at the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este in Como, Italy in 1929. The event will take place from 24 to 26 May this year, and once again watchmaker A. Lange & Söhne will award the owner of the “Best of Show” car with Lange 1 Time Zone “Como Edition”, a tradition since 2012.

A. Lange & Söhne CEO Wilhelm Schmid is also an avid classic car collector himself, which explains his connection with Duccio Lopresto, owner of the 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale Prototipo which won the “Best of Show” prize in 2017 Concorso d’Eleganza. The two friends share views on famous designers, racing legends, and prominent collectors.

As for the Lange 1 Time Zone “Como Edition”, it could well be one of most exclusive watches in the market as it is not for sale and only created once a year just for the Concorso d’Eleganza main prize winner. While Lange 1 Time Zone is available to public, the Como Edition is unique with Como representing the Central European Time on the rotating city ring instead of Berlin. There is also an additional hand-engraved hinged cuvette on the side of this white-gold special edition. Inside the 41.9 mm case is the in-house calibre L031.1 manually wound movement with 72-hour power reserve that beats at 21,600 vph.
