The Relentless Pursuit Of Speed
McLaren MSO HS

The rumours of a McLaren positioned between the 675LT and P1 have now been confirmed.

Tabbed the 688HS, its official name is the MSO HS, for McLaren Special Operations “High Sport” and proves that McLaren’s pursuit of speed remains relentless. Powered by McLaren’s iconic M838T 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 engine, producing 688 horsepower and 71.34 kgm of torque. The MSO HS features revised aerodynamics giving a total downforce of 220 kg below 241 km/h. The most visible change is the massive rear wing inspired by the P1 GTR which comes with air brake functionality and pre-configured settings by test driver Chris Goodwin. Other aero tweaks include the bare carbon fibre roof, sills, and fenders. McLaren’s MSP HS continues to find ways of reducing weight as it pushes the boundaries of carbon fibre, alcantara, polycarbonate, titanium, alloy, ceramic and lighter glass.

MSO HS also utilises the McLaren Track Telemetry (MTT) system, also featured on the 675LT. Cameras and sensors on the suspension and body collect track data, helping the driver to analyse performance and locate areas for improvement. This system is extremely attractive to racing drivers, however as the limited run of 25 cars is already sold out, those interested but late individuals must instead keep their eye on the second-hand market.
