The Powerful PHEV Chapter
Ferrari SF90 Stradale

Ferrari has unveiled the long awaited SF90 Stradale – the marque’s most powerful road  car to date. It also happens to be the very first series-production plug-in hybrid Ferrari. The name celebrates the 90 anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari and the “Stradale” part emphasises its road-going status.

The acclaimed Ferrari V8 engine is still the key feature of the powertrain. The new V8 has a slightly bigger capacity than the usual 3.9-litre at 3990cc with maximum 769 hp and 800 Nm, and power is sent to the rear via eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The engine works with three motors, one between the mid-mount engine and transmission and two at the front, that further boost the output to 986 hp combined and turn the SF90 Stradale to all-wheel-drive.

Such setup allows the supercar to hit 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and 200 km/h in 6.7 seconds and sprint to a 340 km/h top speed. When purely driven by electric motors in eDrive mode, its top speed is limited to 135 km/h and has a range of 25 km. It’s worth mentioning that the SF90 Stradale laps the Fiorano test track in Maranello in just 1 minute 19 seconds, making it almost a second faster than current record holder LaFerrari.

As for its appearance, design chief Flavio Manzoni describe the new design direction as something between a racing car and a spaceship. With advanced crafting in aerodynamics, the SF90 Stradale generates 390 kg of downforce at 250 km/h. The design team also manages to keep the car’s weight at 1,570 kg even with the motors and battery pack. The interior is equally innovative, highlights include steering wheel with touchpad and digital instrument cluster with 16” curved HD screen.
