The Pinnacle of Air
Nike Air Vapormax

When the original Nike Air Max 1 debuted in 1987, it was the world’s first shoe that showcased a prominent and visible air cushioning unit. Ten years later, the technology of the Air Max 97 evolved into the first full-length Air Max system. With another twenty years having passed, Nike is now releasing the latest pinnacle of the Air Max family, the Nike Air VaporMax on March 26 (Air Max Day), commemorating the 30th anniversary of the classic runner.

The Nike Air VaporMax emphasises a standalone Air unit with improved durability that provides lightweight and consistent cushioning. In the past, the Air units required insulation with a secondary rubber layer for protection and greater longevity. Thanks to a new innovation, designers have incorporated both interior and exterior layers into one VaporMax Air unit. Further, the new Air unit can independently maintain its given form with elasticity, whereas the older units surrounded the Air unit with inflexible structural components.

Aside from the redesigned Air unit, the shoes feature a light grey Flyknit upper for a lightweight and adaptive fit and are constructed with tonal Dynamic Flywire to lock the foot in place for precise support.
