The Optimised Anniversario
Ducati 1299 Panigale S Anniversario

In celebration of their 90th anniversary, Ducati has just announced the new 1299 Panigale S Anniversario special edition. MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner officially unveiled the 500-unit edition at World Ducati Week 2016, at the Misano World Circuit.

The most eye-catching element of the S Anniversario is the white, black and Ducati Red fairing borrowed from the automaker’s race bikes and paired with gold wheel rims. The clutch cover, cylinder head covers, and oil pan are all cast in a golden magnesium alloy not to mention the titanium Akrapovič racing exhaust. These lightweight materials, together with carbon fibre front and rear mudguards, heel guards for rider footpegs and shock cover, etc., help shave off 2.5 kg of weight.

The Ducati Superquadro 1,285 cc engine provides the perfect platform for unleashing an incredible 205hp. The special edition uses the Bosch Inertial Platform based around the Inertial Measurement Unit. The sensor constantly monitors the motorcycle’s lean angle and fore/aft pitch and interfaces with other aids such as the advanced “EVO” version of Ducati Wheelie Control and Ducati Traction Control, as well as the Anti-skid Braking System and Ohlins Smart EC suspension for maximising efficiency and safety. Each bike features a unique name and number, laser-etched on the aluminium top triple clamp. Ducati will begin releasing the 500 Panigale S Anniversario special editions units globally this month.
