The New Standard for Notebooks
MacBook

After some time of anticipation, the rumored “MacBook Air with Retina Display” finally showed itself to the public during its press conference in March, and was given the name “MacBook” by Apple CEO Tim Book. Focused on its embedded 12-inch Retina display, the factory has also reduced its thickness to 13.1mm, meaning even its thickest area is thinner than the 11 inch MBA by 24%. Weighing at just 910g, no doubt it is the slimmest design in history. The 2,304 x 1,440 resolution maintains a 16:10 ratio and saves 30% power consumption with the new LCD panel, providing a 9 hours long battery life. Specially implementing the super power-saving technology Intel Core M processor, its performance lies somewhere between the Core I series and Atom. Even though it appears to have its restrictions, its 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD configuration is doubtlessly capable in achieving a balanced and all-rounded performance. Worth to mention is that the motherboard is given a ‘fan-less’ design to achieve zero noise during operation.

Both the keyboard and the touchpad uses an all new design, where the prior is not distributed closer to the edge, abandoning the tradition ‘scissors’ structure for a ‘butterfly’ joint so that the pressing pressure can be distributed evenly, each of the keys are also 17% larger so the user’s typing comfort is enhanced. As for the latter, the TouchPad is added with the pressure sensor Force Touch trackpad which not only supports the Force Click but also can sense the weight of signatures and control the speed in Quicktime Shuffle dictated by the user’s force, allowing for more diversified gestures. Lastly, the whole MacBook only provides one USB-C connector which serves as charging, USB, HDMI, VGA and Display Port, meaning the user only need to purchase an additional converter for the associated configuration. The product comes in 3 color options of gold, silver and space gray, and is available at prices starting from HKD $9,988.
