The New Shape Of Sound
Sony LinkBuds WF-L900

Sony has just launched its new LinkBuds wireless earphones, which feature an innovative ring design. The unique open ring allows wearers to tune into their ambient sounds while also listening to content being played.

LinkBuds are extremely lightweight thanks to the super-small, ergonomic open design. Each earbud just weighs 4.1 g, while the compact charging case itself is 34 grams – barely even noticeable in your pocket. Looking nothing like conventional earbuds, LinkBuds’ specially-designed 12mm ring drivers are visible and integrated within the housing, and offer quality sound with a clear mid-high range. Sony’s special 360 Reality Audio adds an extra touch to give that live music sound.

For phone call functionality, LinkBuds are supported by Precise Voice Pickup technology and an AI-developed noise reduction algorithm, ensuring ambient noises are suppressed and the person on the other end can hear the wearer’s voice clearly. The usability is also worth a mention, as the wearer only needs to tap near either of the ears instead of directly on the earphones themselves in order to control playback.

With an IPX4 water resistance rating, the shell of the earbuds (excluding the ring driver unit) can endure splashes from any angle, so sweating or jogging under light drizzle shouldn’t be a problem. Battery life is sufficient for a day’s use, as the LinkBuds offer 5.5 hours of playing time and the charging case adds an extra 12 hours on top of that. A 10-minute quick charge provides 90 minutes of playing too, which is great for people like us who have a habit of forgetting to charge our devices until the last second!
