The Liveries Live On
298 Chair special edition by Garage Italia's Lapo Elkann

Lapo Elkann from Garage Italia’s scope of interest is much wider than one might first assume. Apart from all the extravagantly tuned cars, Elkann has extended his love for the automobile into household furniture. A collaboration with furniture brand Kartell was previously released in 2016, and these new chairs have been developed for his latest venture.

Elkann has created three special designs for 298 Chair, originally designed by Michele de Lucchi for Italian furniture brand Cassina in 2015. Each design features a recognisable racing livery of a famous sponsor, such as the navy, light blue and red stripes of Martini. The folding chair originally features a solid natural beechwood frame and steel folding support, while the seat and backrest are lightly padded and upholstered in fabric with a thermoformed polyurethane insert. The folding mechanism is made of brushed stainless steel.
