Despite the proliferation of 4K videos and movies recently, Sony remains the only manufacturer designing projectors specifically for full 4K resolution home theaters. They’re preparing to take an even greater market lead with the introduction of the VPL-VW5000ES. This first ever laser light source system utilizes Sony’s SXRD (silicon crystal reflective display), designed to produce exceptional contrast and detail when matched with the laser light engine, making the VPL-VW5000ES the centerpiece of any new high specification home theater project or the expansion of an existing home theater lineup.

Benefits of this laser light source system include ultrafast projector on and off times without having to wait for it to cool down and permitting viewing programs at any time. Because the light system’s long operational life means the brightness will diminish linearly, the VPL-VW5000ES has built-in calibration to measure how much the projector has drifted from the original factory settings; a user can then recalibrate and reset it. The VPL-VW5000ES comes with the latest SXRD 4K panel direct output screen, without any manual control adjustments. Matched with the Motionflow streaming technology, it ensures that even fast motion content remains sharp and smooth. In addition to being compatible with the HDR and BT.2020 function, the VPL-VW5000ES is also equipped with the HDCP 2.2 compatible HDMI input dock so that the input has enough bandwidth to receive a 4K 60p signal transmission, allowing it to play all the formats of videos today as well as preparing for future formats. The VPL-VW5000ES will be on sale starting this May, and is now available for preorder at ASIA THEATRE.
