The Legend among Us
McLaren: The Film

McLaren has become synonymous with both motor racing and fast and furious production cars, yet not many people are familiar with the short but inspiring life of its founder Bruce McLaren. The upcoming documentary, McLaren, is directed by Roger Donaldson (Thirteen Days, The World’s Fastest Indian) and set to unfold the motor racing legend’s stories as they should be heard.

Bruce McLaren’s achievements were unparalleled. Born in New Zealand in 1937, he was determined to excel in motor racing. He was not just a first-class driver, winning important races such as 24 Hours of Le Mans, Can-Am and Monaco Grand Prix, he was also a visionary constructor with all round design, engineering and even team management skills. He died at the tender age of 32 during a test drive at Goodwood Circuit in 1970, but his legacy remains .

The film features contributions from many racing heroes, including Emerson Fittipaldi, Alastair Caldwell, Chris Amon, Howden Ganley, Mario Andretti, Dan Gurney, Lothar Motschenbacher and Sir Jackie Stewart. There are also recreated scenes with Dwayne Cameron acting as our innovator, while access to the McLaren family and archives further enriches the film. The first official trailer has just been released, and the film will be released later this year.
