The 1957 Porsche 597 Jagdwagen 4X4 (also known as the “Hunting Car”) was designed and built at the request of the German Army in the early 1950s. The model should have gone on to compete with vehicles in the same role such as the VW Kubelwagen, Jeep and Land Rover, but Porsche could never achieve the Army’s designated mass production output in time, and thus lost their Army contract to the cheaper DKW Munga. With just 49 available in the civilian market out of the original 71, the Porsche 597 Jagdwagen is exceedingly rare.  It does have its quirks; although this amphibious vehicle is very stylish without doors, passengers need to clamber up each time before enjoying the ride!
