The Volocopter 2X flying taxi is both greener and safer when compared with traditional helicopters, and this vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft is on schedule for service, starting in 2018. The Volocopter 2X has 18 electrically powered rotors that are fully charged in 2 hours and can then fly for 27 minutes from at a maximum speed of 100km/h. Although the design allows remote-controlled or completely autonomous flight, existing regulations will require an operator with a sport pilot license. The Volocopter 2X has us dreaming of piloting our personal VTOL in private “air lanes” in the not too distant future.
