The Division’s Debut
1998 McLaren F1 LM-Spec available in RM Sotheby's private sales

British auction house RM Sotheby’s has just launched the new Private Sales division in addition to their frequent auction sale events for rare vehicles. One of the extremely limited models from the first listings is this beautiful McLaren F1 LM-Spec, one of two examples developed by McLaren Special Operations.

This particular McLaren F1 LM-Spec with chassis number 073 is the street-legal version of the track-only F1, specifically fitted with the more powerful LM-specification engine optimised with parts derived from the GTR race cars, providing 680hp. An ‘Extra High Downforce Package’ was also installed, including revised nose, additional front wing vents and a more aggressive rear wing. While the interior of the standard F1 was stripped down for racing, this road-going F1 LM-Spec features upgrades such as a satellite navigation system.

While RM Sotheby’s does not list the price, the same car was sold for US$13.75 million in the auctioneer’s Monterey 2015 auction, which can be used as a reference.
