The Design Director’s High-flying Concept
Spaceship Concept by Flavio Manzoni

Flavio Manzoni is a designer known for his work with Ferrari — in particular, supercars like the LaFerrari and FXX K — but his latest concept takes design and mechanical innovation to new heights. Drawing from his own interest in extraterrestrials and science fiction, Manzoni created a spaceship concept that evokes images of movies like Blade Runner or 2001: A Space Odyssey, as well as influences from ‘70s industrial designers like Joe Cesare Colombo and Pierre Paulin. “I tried to imagine something that can fly in the future, since there will be less and less space available on the ground, and I focused on creating a little craft that’s different than my childhood dream,” he recently told Formtrend.

The spaceship itself features a front and rear spoiler reminiscent of those found on production Ferraris, with a structure divided into two hulls and two wings that flow downwards. Taken together, it’s an intriguing side project that should excite anyone still looking forward to the flying cars, as well as the future designs of road Ferraris.
