The infamous Group 5 category of 1970 gave birth to some of motorsport’s most historic icons. These 5.0L rebels of speed dominated the sports car racing category for only two seasons in heated endurance battles before the class was scrapped in 1972, but not before lifting the participants into legendary status and popular culture through Steve McQueen’s “Le Mans” film. Fourty years later, this group of misfits from one of history’s most celebrated racing classes is finally reunited at the Goodwood 74th Member’s Meeting.
