Even though a hypercar model may be discontinued, it can still live on as an evolving concept shaped by tuning and fresh ideas. That’s very much the case with the Pagani Huayra. To celebrate the 70th birthday of its founder, the legendary Horacio Pagani, the Italian automaker has orchestrated a striking encore for a model that officially bowed out in 2018: meet the Huayra 70 Trionfo.
Led by Pagani’s Grandi Complicazioni division, the Trionfo (Italian for “triumph”) is a machine designed to transcend traditional boundaries. While the Huayra made way for the Utopia years ago, this bespoke creation proves the icon’s silhouette remains ripe for evolution. The redesign is so extensive that only the doors and window frames carry over from the original car. The most dramatic departure is the abandonment of Pagani’s signature quad-headlight layout, replaced by single headlights and vertical DRLs, which is a stylistic nod to the elegant Codalunga.
At the rear, the design celebrates “naked mechanics,” with sculpted surfaces meeting anodised aluminium to frame a redesigned bumper, extractor, and diffuser. Inside, the cockpit remains a showcase of tactile luxury, blending fine leathers and rich textures. Beneath the bespoke bodywork sits an AMG-sourced 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12, now producing a formidable 834 hp, with power sent to the wheels through a seven-speed manual gearbox.
Although the Trionfo has already been delivered to its owner in Cincinnati, it represents only the first chapter of this anniversary story. Just three vehicles are planned to mark Horacio Pagani’s milestone, with the remaining two Huayra 70 models currently in development and likely to emerge with entirely different names and specifications.
