The Bahn Burner Returns
The New RUF CTR "Yellow Bird"

Legendary German car manufacturer RUF just revealed their heart-stopping new CTR that reprises the iconic “Yellow Bird” at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show.

Originally introduced in 1987, RUF developed the canary-coloured “Yellow Bird” as a narrowed version of the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2. It featured an enlarged and highly-tuned version of Porsche’s 3.2 litre flat-six cylinder engine, lightened body panels and upgraded suspension and braking systems. Its wind-cheating aerodynamic profile and light weight made it the fastest car of its day.

To commemorate his company’s 30th anniversary, Alois Ruf decided it was time for the Bahn-burning “Bird” to return. The stunning new CTR now boasts a 3.6-liter twin turbo flat-six rated at 700 horsepower and 659 lb-ft of torque, going from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 362 km/h. A six-speed manual and limited-slip differential direct the increased power to the 19-inch rear wheels. Thanks to a carbon fibre monocoque structure, this new-age “Yellow Bird” RUF CTR weighs only 1,200 kilograms.

Only 30 units of the new CTR will be produced at RUF’s Pfaffenhausen factory, starting next year. Pricing has yet to be confirmed.
