Swimming In The Air
Cliff Concept Boutique Hotel by Hayri Atak

The mountain plateau Preikestolen in Forsand is one of the most popular sites in Norway among hikers,  greeting over 250,000 visitors every year. As seen in last year’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the 604-metre cliff is surrounded by stunning scenery of deep blue water of Lysefjord and nearby mountains, a view that many would love to wake up to.

Istanbul-based Hayri Atak Architectural Design Studio has envisioned a concept hotel that directly clinging to the Preikestolen cliff. While such hotel is impossible to come true, the team at Hayri Atak didn’t let the reality limit their imagination. The top floor of the five-storey hotel is a large viewing deck, welcoming the guests with an unobstructed view of the area upon arrival. The three floors underneath are reserved for guestrooms and all of them have a curved balcony. But the most interesting feature of the hotel is the swimming pool on the bottom floor. With most of the long and narrow pool protruding from the cliff and built with transparent material, it is the best spot for panoramic views of the area, only if you dare to.
