Swarming in the City
Continental Bee concept

Continental is famous for manufacturing tyres, brakes and electronics, but recently it has developed an autonomous concept for the future. Named Bee, an acronym for Balanced Economy and Ecology mobility concept, it is based on a ride sharing platform that we’ve seen other manufacturers, such as Smart, latching onto recently.

Bee is compact and straight forward in terms of the exterior design while the body panels double as message display panels for passengers and other road users. It has a range of 350 km and a moderate top speed of 60 km/h which is sufficient for urban transportation. People can easily summon the vehicle from the smartphone app and Continental envisions the platform would enable thousands of Bees serving in the city. Additionally, Bee is not only designed for carrying passengers. The body panels of Bee are removable so that goods of a wider size range can be transported on the driverless vehicle.

While no target timeline has been given, Continental believes the concept will eventually turn into reality.
