Steering Revolution
Uniti One

Swedish electric car startup Uniti has just revealed its first vehicle, the Uniti One, due to hit the market in 2019. The electric car takes a bubble shape that is not far from the Smart Fortwo, but Uniti aims to offer a line of two, four and five-seat models, with prices ranging from just 14,900 to 19,900 euros.

Uniti first started as a project at Sweden’s Lund University. It later evolved to become a startup in 2016 and the capital for developing a prototype was gathered on a crowdfunding platform FundedByMe. With the aim of changing the driver’s experience, another highlight of Uniti One can be found in the cabin. The concept offers two steering options, the traditional steering wheel and a joystick control system, which is a bold and innovative move in the automaking history.

The car’s 22kWh battery offers a 300 km range and a quick 30-minute charge can provide a 200 km drive. Uniti One completes 0-80 km/h acceleration in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 130 km/h, which is more than enough for all urban driving scenarios, including travelling on highways. The body is going to be made with recyclable carbon fibre while the interior will be an organic composite, making an impact on environmental sustainability and societal responsibility.
