Steep Tech Returns
The North Face Steep Tech

Back in 1991, The North Face teamed up with skiing legend Scot Schmidt to produce a special collection under the name Steep Tech. The collaboration featured the most advanced functional design and fabrics, enabling athletes to perform at their best when skiing. Now The North Face is bringing the popular collection back, with each piece completely reimagined.

When Scot Schmidt’s swift skiing moves were presented on Warren Miller’s famous ski movie Extreme Team while wearing Steep Tech gear in full, pro skiers were stunned by his exceptional skills and naturally noticed the clothing collection. But the popularity of Steep Tech back then wasn’t just thanks to sports fanatics, as overall it represented the next level of functional clothing items. Pieces were also picked up purely just for wearing on the streets and eventually, Steep Tech became one of the most popular collections in The North Face’s history.

For the 2020 relaunch, the brand has reimagined everything – including the jacket, down jacket, fleece jacket, turtleneck tee, pants, cap, various packs and more. The first drop comprises original hiking wear in eye-catching colours and will be available at selected The North Face Urban Exploration stores on 24 October, while the all-black pieces will arrive in store on 4 December.
