Stay Awake
Steer Bracelet

Staying awake when driving can be challenging after a big day at work or on long intercity journeys. When a driver is drowsy, he may fall into micro sleep that only lasts for seconds but can still have life-long consequences. Steer bracelet is designed to keep a driver alert through his or her journey.

Steer has 16 sensors that measure driver’s heart rate and skin conductance. When the driver first puts it on the wrist, it measures his normal heart rate and skin conductance and uses the figures as indicators to determine whether or not he is getting tired. If Steer finds the driver getting drowsy, it will vibrate as an alert. If the situation keeps going on and the driver almost falls asleep, it will wake him up with a gentle electric shock.

Steer claims that after being shocked, the neurotransmitters and hormones of the driver will change, which makes him less drowsy and able to continue. But of course in the long run, what’s important is to get sufficient sleep.
