Star of the Concours
1950 Ferrari 166MM/212 Export “Uovo”

As the former home of Henry VIII of England, the historical site Hampton Court Palace in Surrey, United Kingdom is one of the most suitable and elegant locations for holding a vintage car event. Taking place on 31 August to 2 September, the Concours of Elegance will show case the rare Ferrari pictured above — the one-off 166MM/212 Export “Uovo”.

Designed for Count Giannino Marzotto as the ultimate sports racing car back then, its body took the shape of a jet with the aerodynamic elements inspired by its designer Franco Reggiani’s previous aeronautical training. The car is also around 150 kg lighter than similar Ferraris because thanks to the tubular structure and Peraluman plates. Even its windscreen is bespoke and made of reflection-free crystal. The car’s performance was proved by a number of race wins including the 1951 Giro della Toscana. It was sold in a Sotheby’s Monterey auction last year and in recently the car was rarely seen in public.

Joining this rare example in the Concours of Elegance are an 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Scaglietti, the last ever example of Ferrari 500 TRC by Scaglietti, an alloy-bodied Long Nose 275 GTB, a Dino 246 GT and more. A selection of 60 rarest cars will complete as concours cars and hundreds of fine cars will also be displayed.
