Songwriters’ Fonts
Handwriting of David Bowie, Kurt Cobain and John Lennon are now downloadable as fonts

Designers Nicolas Damiens and Julien Sens recently converted David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Leonard Cohen, and Serge Gainsbourg’s handwriting, into free downloadable fonts. These were done using samples from their original handwritten letters and notes including post cards, lists, and in Cobain’s case, his suicide letter.

According to the designers, “Write songs as the ones who inspired you before. The Songwriters fonts have been created to give musicians inspiration. Writing lyrics with the handwriting of influential songwriters helps imagination to develop. Being in the mood of Bowie, Cobain, Cohen, Gainsbourg, Lennon, might be purely imaginative… but that’s precisely the point.”

Although the designers say the fonts are for personal use only, some says this is “very disrespectful” to the late artists? In any case, these fonts can be downloaded here.
