Patagonia Responsible Shells

Functional outdoor apparel brand Patagonia is always fully committed to sustainability in its production process. The company has been using recycled plastic as key material for their clothing items since 1993, an act that was far ahead of its peer. Currently 69% of its line this season is made with recycled materials, and that’s not just nylon – a type of plastic – but also cotton and cashmere, and the company is working towards using 100% recycled materials for all productions. The first milestone towards this goal has now been reached, with all the waterproof shells launching this season is made of 100% recycled materials without sacrificing performance or durability.

Another quality of these waterproof shells is they are all sewn in Fair Trade Certified premises and the working environments in these factories are monitored and maintained. There are 62 waterproof shells this seasons spanning across men’s and women’s and three lines: Alpine Shells, Show Shells, and Everyday Shells. The Alpine Shells are made for the rowdiest weather with durable water repellent function. The new Ascensionist Jacket is the lightest technical shell at just 13.1 oz, with 3-layer GORE-TEX Active fabric for creating an excellent waterproof and breathable wear. The Show Shells includes jackets offering sufficient windproof protection even from the season’s burliest weather and come in various levels for keeping you warm, whereas the Everyday Shells are great for moving around in the city.
