Social Decay
Digital artwork by Andrei Lacatusu

Today’s society is dominated by social networking sites. While platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter have become an inseparable part of our lives, one might wonder if all of these collapsed one day, would our lives be better or worse?

Andrei Lacatusu, a self-taught digital artist from Bucharest, Romania, explores the possibilities of a social media apocalypse. With his series of digital art called “Social Decay”, the Romanian artist imagines social networks as real places in the midst of total decay, neglect and poverty, symbolizing the fall of these Internet giants. His artwork makes us think about a post-tech dystopia that might arrive in the future.
