Goodwood Revival kicks off amidst stormy conditions

Blackbird Automotive is currently on the ground at Goodwood Revival 2017, and that ground has been ankle-deep in water for most of our time here so far – this is England after all!

Despite the constant downpours of yesterday’s festival opener, the action never stopped on track, and people still turned up by the thousands to watch some beautiful vintage machinery attempt to tame the rivers and ponds that took over the track surface. Oversteer was the order of the day and for the most part, it resulted in some spectacular displays of driving. For others though, it ended in disaster with some very expensive machinery losing scraps with the tyre wall.

This was especially prevalent in the evening’s Kinrara Trophy, a one-hour, two-driver race that starts in the dusk, and finishes in pitch black darkness. After a hectic start that was nearly cancelled altogether because of the weather, a long run of safety cars thanks to some big crashes and mechanical issues, the race was dominated by Jaguar E-Types.

We’ll have more coverage coming up very soon, but for now keep an eye on our Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates.
