Singapore’s First Hypercar
Vanda Dendrobium

Vanda Electrics will debut its first hypercar at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show – but don’t expect it to make any loud and exciting noises.

The first hypercar to be produced by a Singapore-based company, the “Dendrobium” features an all-electric heart developed in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering in the UK, and though many aspects of the unit are still a work in progress, Vanda projects performance figures of 0-100 km/h in only 2.7 seconds and a top speed of nearly 200mph. As presented, the Dendrobium’s powertrain will feature two electric motors at each axle powered by a lithium-ion battery, using a single-speed transmission and differential for the front wheels and a multi-speed gearbox and differential for the rear wheels.

The Dendrobium still awaits confirmation for production, and Vanda says the decision will depend on the reaction at the Geneva Motor Show. Even if opinions are positive, production will be limited, and is aiming to start in 2020.
