At their recent product release conference, Microsoft not only showcased their Windows 10 preview but also their latest mind-blowing HoloLens, a creation designed for expanding high-definition holograms to life. This head-mount display looks just like a pair of glasses but is in fact a full-feature PC. Focusing on the techniques of creating holograms, it is able to project a virtual screen onto the real world. Its transparent lens allows one to see the outside world and the display monitor is able to instantly project three-dimensional animations onto the surroundings, of which creates a virtual and reality combination. Having an independent CPU, GPU and somatosensory functions, it can identify changes in command from the user’s gesture and voice, achieving a precise interaction between the human and the computer.

In the video shown by Microsoft, HoloLens is mainly used in games and professional fields. For example, when players play Minecraft, the HoloLens allow users to feel as if they are building the castle right in their living room. In the professional realm, it can be used in the fields of aerospace, education and design. Worth mentioning is that the brand has already confirmed its cooperation with the US space agency NASA, offering astronauts with HoloLens to wear when they land on Mars, making science fiction movies of interstellar adventures into a reality.
