Ever since the renowned watchmaker debut its first ever dive watch in 1965, it has been the biggest challenge for the brand to keep producing the cutting-edge dive watch for the past 50 years. As a pioneer in this field, Seiko has made a few notable accomplishments to distinguish itself from the crowd, from the first use of titanium case for a diver’s watch to the invention of the accordion-style strap, and the two-layer case to the design of dial markers and hands of unparalleled legibility, it has become the world’s benchmark for excellence in producing high quality diver’s watches.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary for its first diver’s watch, Seiko presents its brand new Marinemaster Professional 1000m Diver’s. Following its 1975 predecessor, the new Marinemaster features the two-layer case construction which is the trademark of Seiko’s professional diver’s watches. Besides, the strength of the inner case structure, the specially designed L-shaped gasket and the screw-down glass fixing have made the watch to be effectively impermeable to helium and can be used for saturation diving to great depths, not to mention its ceramic outer shell to enhance the shock resistance of the watch, which also helps to prevents any unintentional rotation of the bezel.

Equipped with a 8L35 mechanical caliber, the new Marinemaster is made and assembled by Seiko’s leading craftsmen at the Shizuku-ishi Watch Studio. The hands and markers are coated with Seiko’s very own Lumibrite material which glows 60% longer-lasting and brighter than the past, making it easier to read in the dark. Lastly, the strap is made of extra-strength silicone to deliver greater durability.
