Sculptures In Motion
Desiring-Machines by Server Demirtaş

The M.A.D.Gallery Geneva presents the Desiring-Machines collection by Turkish artist Server Demirtaş; five mechanical sculptures that feature smooth, humanlike movements, blending creativity and construction.

One of the mechanical sculptures, Desiring Machine, is a child standing on a pedestal in a restless stance with folded arms across its chest firmly hitting the wall behind with its back repeatedly, expressing insecurity and frustration. Contemplating Woman’s Machine II is a woman with her head resting on her knees and her arms wrapped around her legs, contemplating slowly and gently. Purple Flower of the Machine and Playground II both invite people to interact through different kinds of mechanical movements. Lastly, Hand on the Shoulder is a marble-like statue that breathes in and out.

These mechanical sculptures show invoke feelings, addressing the relationship between man and machine, exploring the concepts of motion, perpetuity and inertia.
