Based in Montreal, artist Jannick Deslauriers creates sculptures using soft and tender materials like silk, tulle or aluminium mesh. Deslauriers trims her works with black thread, highlighting their delicate and fragile nature, just like the pencil lines of a sketch. Her highly detailed and voluminous work leaves the impression of a realistic 3D drawing.

The latest work ‘Sentence, souffle et linceul’ is a demolished car-like sculpture, at the scale of an actual automobile. Deslauriers believes the work reveals the ‘salient issues’ of Anthropocene, as there is so much violence in buying and selling weapons, human beings and energy and is on display in her solo exhibition also named ‘Sentence, souffle et linceul’ together with other sculptures.
