1967 Lamborghini Marzal

The revolutionary Lamborghini Marzal concept first debuted in March 1967 at the Geneva Motor Show. A few weeks afterwards on 7 May 1967, Prince Rainier III of Monaco, with his wife actress Grace Kelly, opened the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix riding in this innovative prototype for a lap of honour. Fast forward to 13 May 2018, the same car returned to the Monaco Historic Grand Prix for another lap of honour, and it was its second public driving appearance , 51 years after the first.

The unique concept was famous for its see-through gullwing doors, showing the sliver leathered interior. The futuristic four seater was powered by a 2.0-litre straight six engine, which was half of the 4.0-litre V12 from the Miura, and paired with a five speed gearbox. Although the concept was not fully developed, Lamborghini said it could reach a top speed of 225 km/h. The chassis was also based on Miura, but modified to accommodate four persons. The glass doors obviously made the car not very practical, but continues to be a reference point in the raging bull’s history.
