Riding for a Good Cause
2016 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is an interesting and meaningful annual worldwide event. Each year, thousands of riders all over the world gather together and ride their classic or vintage motorbikes wearing their finest attire. Founded by Mark Hawwa in Sydney in 2012 after seeing Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a Matchless bike in suit, the charitable event is in support of men’s health. With supports from title sponsors Triumph Motorcycles and Zenith Watches and partnered with the Movember Foundation, it aims to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research and male suicide prevention programs.

The event took place on September 25 this year, with 56,600 registered riders over 500 cities across 90 countries taking part in their local event. Riders both male and female were enjoying this fun occasion, bringing class and sophistication to a vehicle that is usually associated with rebelliousness. For the local Hong Kong riders, the troop started from Big Wave Bay and rode all the way to Kennedy Town.

The fundraising goal for this year’s event is US$ 5 million and so far over US$ 3,322,000 has been raised. While the rides are over, the fundraising continues until October 31. Individuals can sponsor a rider or team, or donate in general directly on the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride website.
