Reviving an Archive
Rimowa Classic Aluminium Grid limited collection

Rimowa’s latest release draws on its archive while introducing a fresh expression of its signature aluminium design. The Classic Aluminium Grid collection revisits a distinctive surface treatment first seen in 1969, reinterpreted for a new generation of travellers.

At the centre of the collection is an embossed grid pattern pressed directly into the aluminium shell. This geometric structure gives each case a more technical, architectural presence, while adding a subtle sense of rigidity compared with the standard finish. Although a visually small change, it significantly alters the character of the case.

The collection is offered in three familiar formats: a compact Hand-Carry Case, the Classic Cabin and the Classic Trunk. Each maintains Rimowa’s recognisable proportions and construction, with the grid pattern providing a clear point of distinction.

The theme continues inside, with a quilted lining that mirrors the exterior design. Heritage Blue leather is used across the handles and interior details, while palladium-finished locks and aeroplane-debossed rivets reinforce the brand’s long-standing association with travel. The leather luggage tag, also in Heritage Blue, carries a subtle nod to the past, stamped with Rimowa’s founding year, 1898.

Each piece is crafted in Cologne and limited to 1,969 individually numbered examples, referencing the year that inspired the design.
