The phenomenon of cryptocurrency is now finding its way into different aspects of our daily life. French computing company Qarnot is launching the QC-1, the world’s first cryptocurrency heater.

As innovative as it sounds, QC-1 is not rocket science but a clever twist on current computing: Crypto mining generates a lot of heat. Instead of having fans to cool the computer down, why not make a better use of it and warm up your apartment? Inside the heater two graphics cards are embedded to handle the Ethereum mining or blockchain transactions. Since there is no mobile part like fan or hard drive, the process can be undergoing noiselessly. The heater itself is made of wood and aluminium, and there are LED lights to indicate the progression, while on the mobile app the user can monitor the mining efficiency and the power of the heater,and follow the trends of cryptocurrencies. The heater is priced as 2900€ and is available for order on Qarnot’s website.
