Return to Circuit Paul Ricard
2018 Formula 1 race-calendar released

The FIA’s World Motor Sport Council has just confirmed the calendar for the 2018 Formula 1 season. There will be 21 race locations in total next year, with the elimination of Malaysian Grand Prix and the return of the French and German Grands Prix.

As FIA President Jean Todd said, “The FIA would also like to welcome back the French and German Grands Prix to the calendar, as both have a long and rich tradition in the sport. In that regard the FIA is particularly pleased that Formula One will once again return to France, the historic home of grand prix racing, and to the Circuit Paul Ricard, which last hosted the event in 1990.” When the return of the French Grand Prix was first announced late last year, Christian Estrosi – the head of the PACA region where the race will take place – also pronounced that he wanted to dedicate the return of the event to the memory of the late Jules Bianchi.

Located in Le Castellet and opened in 1970, Circuit Paul Ricard hosted the Formula 1 French Grand Prix for many years, with the first year being hosted on 1971. The event moved to Magny-Cours on 1991 and continued till 2008.

The 2018 season will kick off on March 25 in Melbourne, Australia and will finish on November 25 in Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi, while the French Grand Prix Paul Ricard Circuit has been confirmed for June 24. For the full race-calendar, check out the Formula 1 website.
