Return Of Gymkhana
Hoonigan x Subaru Brataroo 9500 Turbo

The tyre-shredding, jump-filled madness of Gymkhana is back. Hoonigan and Subaru Motorsports USA have unveiled the star of the next instalment, the Subaru Brataroo 9500 Turbo, with none other than Travis Pastrana behind the wheel.

Built from a 1978 Subaru BRAT, the Brataroo 9500 Turbo is the result of equal parts engineering, nostalgia, and lunacy. Developed by Vermont SportsCar, it’s powered by a rallycross-spec 2.0-litre turbocharged boxer engine producing 670 hp and 922 Nm of torque, screaming to 9,500 rpm. Power is sent through a six-speed sequential SADEV gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system, allowing Pastrana to launch, drift, and fly with absolute precision.

Wrapped in full carbon fibre bodywork designed by Khyzyl Saleem, the Brataroo wears a radical widebody silhouette and a retro-inspired livery featuring kangaroos giving Pastrana’s trademark thumbs up. It rides on 18-inch forged KMC wheels wrapped in Yokohama tyres. Active aero components, including adjustable front fender louvres and twin rear wings, provide real-time aerodynamic control mid-air, helping Pastrana fine-tune flight angles during Gymkhana’s signature airborne stunts.

The cockpit blends vintage charm with modern tech, featuring a carbon-fibre dashboard, retro switchgear, and a period-correct CB radio. As Pastrana puts it, “This BRAT’s completely unhinged, in the best way possible.”

This purpose-built Subaru marks a new era for the franchise founded by the late Ken Block. Gymkhana: Aussie Shred premieres in early December on the Hoonigan YouTube channel.
