Retro is the New Modern
MCT Dōdekal One

MCT was founded just ten years ago, but it has already become one of the core brands in high end independent watchmaking with its unique way of displaying mechanical time, digitally.

MCT has just released a new timepiece, the Dōdekal One D110 fitted with the brand new Calibre D1. The new watch is inspired by digital displays made popular in the 1970s (and in the same fashion of flight information display in airports). In the centre of the dial there is the extra large hours indicator consisting of nine black-and-white segments. When the minutes hand travels a full circle, the segments of the dual coloured display, driven by cams and gears, change to display the hour accordingly. Each changeover takes 2.5 seconds and is done elegantly. While these days most smart watches are completely digital with simulated mechanical displays, Dōdekal One is doing something different and has the digital display driven entirely by a mechanical arrangement.

Dōdekal One features a 43 mm square-shaped case and the MCT-D1 self-winding movement with gold micro-rotor. The innovative timepiece is available in black titanium and titanium with pink gold, each limited to 25 pieces.
