Retro And Electric
MW Motors Luka EV

MW Motors is an automaker from the Czech Republic that we – admittedly – had never heard of, and it has just launched an electric coupe inspired by 1960s retro style.

The Luka EV features round LED headlights, a kidney grille and a chrome front bumper that smack of vintage BMW, while the body is reminiscent of a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia with an elongated nose. The interior is nostalgic in its look and feel, but is filled with modern elements including carbon fibre components, digital instrument panel and a large multimedia screen.

This is not a car for those who look for high performance, though. Luka EV is powered by four electric motors outputting 12.5 kW each. As a result, its 0-100 km/h acceleration takes 9.3 seconds and the top speed is just 146 km/h. Its extensive range at 300 km is certainly an advantage, and the battery pack can be 80% charged in an hour. Pricing has not been announced. If it is reasonably priced, it could be positioned as a daily electric car with a twist.
