Renault’s Freedom Project
Project Loisir

Renault may or may not be a brand that comes to mind when listing your favourite sports car. No matter your answer, you can’t deny the fact that their products are reliable, good-valued and oddly attractive from time to time. Yet, for many years, a lightweight roadster has been missing from the Gallic brand. Enter “Project Loisir”

From the promotion material, the roadster’s concept is to “best promote the feeling of freedom”; a vehicle for pure pleasure. The eye-catching images reveal a silhouette that is rarely found in a Renault. Unfortunately, Project Loisir is just a design study project, developed by João Paulo Caetano Moreira, a design student from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil. Moreira has not revealed the intended technical specifications for his vision, but it would seem a powerful drivetrain would be necessary to match its fierce appearance. As much as we love the car and the rationale behind the project, we don’t really expect to see Renault turning the project into reality.
