Reducing Ocean Waste
Patagonia 2022 NetPlus Collection

Patagonia has always been a pioneer when it comes to incorporating sustainability with technology and functional design as it aims to reduce and repurpose waste as much as possible. One of the company’s key initiatives is NetPlus — in collaboration with its partner Bureo, discarded fishnets are collected from the coastal areas of South America, processed into NetPlus yarn, and then woven into fabric in order to make clothing items in the range. The initiative has been in place for a few years now, and for 2022, the range expands even further, meaning more waste has been transformed into something useful.

155 unique items are available under the Patagonia NetPlus range for Spring/Summer 2022. Highlights include the five-inch Baggies Shorts which are made with quick-drying 100% NetPlus post-consumer recycled nylon and finished with a durable water repellent coating that doesn’t contain perfluorinated chemicals. In addition to the 5-inch inseam version, the Baggies Lights with a 6.5-inh inseam and the 7-inch Baggies Longs offer a variety of lengths for different activities.

The range also includes the retro-styled Isthmus Anorak windbreaker and a wide range of headwear from breathable caps with mesh panels to a bucket and brimmer hat.

The outdoor brand is currently holding the “Save The Ocean Photo Contest” that aims to increase public awareness of marine pollution in Hong Kong. Simply submit photos under the theme by the end of June to join. More details of the contest can be found on the online submission form.
