The Peugeot 205 GTI was a huge classic back in the 1980s but the model ceased production almost 20 years ago. Peugeot’s current design director Gilles Vidal recently posted some sketches of the iconic hot hatch on his personal Instagram, saying that he was in a creative workshop with Club GTiPowers.

A few ideas were published. Vidal said that a black and white version was the winner as a re-design of the Peugeot 205 GTI. It has vintage looks and relates closely with the original, while the flared wheel arches and LED lights add a modern touch to the design.

The purpose of having the workshop and these sketches is uncertain, and while it is unlikely that Peugeot will be re-launching the iconic hot hatch in the future, it’s still exciting to see the design being revisited. Perhaps these sketches will inspire another retro looking model.
