Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR
Volkswagen Golf GTI is probably the archetype of high performance compact hatchback. For its 40th anniversary, Volkswagen has launched a customer racing version, the Golf GTI TCR, to compete in the TCR International Series. Developed by Volkswagen Motorsport together with the sport department at SEAT, it is powered by a 2-litre turbo four-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection that generates 330 hp and produces 410 Nm of torque.
Appearance wise, the racecar sets itself apart from the original version with its 18-inch racing rims, a chassis that is roughly 40 cm wider than the production Golf, an outstanding carbon fibre rear wing promising optimal handling and rear downforce, matched with an aerodynamic front splitter to provide high speed balance. Inside racing essentials include a proper racing seat complete with head protective side wings, a custom racing roll cage and an FIA-approved fuel cell to protect the driver from fire in case of accidents. Only 20 units were been produced and all have been sold. Delivery started in March and we look forward to seeing this manufacturer-styled racing gem in action in the TCR.
