Maserati has introduced plenty of iconic signature vehicles over its 100-year history, and Blackbird Tridente — the official Maserati Hong Kong and Macau dealer — has brought three of these rare machines to the Maserati Experience Centre in Causeway Bay for display.
The next showpiece is a RHD yellow 1972 Indy running a 4.7-litre V8 engine and five-speed manual transmission. The 2+2 coupe model was in production from 1969 to 1975, with engine options ranging from 4.2-litre, 4.7-litre, to 4.9-litre and a power output of 260 PS, 290 PS, and 320 PS respectively, while the top speed capabilities were officially rated at 265 km/h for the big block model. Other features include double-wishbone front suspension and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. With a total of just 1,104 Indys made, only 364 examples were fitted with the 4.7-litre engine.
Lastly, in production from 1976 to 1983, the Kyalami sports car also has a 2+2 layout. With a capacity of either 4.2-litre or 4.9-litre, the engine was designed with advanced DOHC heads with four carburettors, producing 265PS and 280PS respectively with a top speed of 240 km/h. The car was available with a five-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission. The exhibited Kyalami was produced in 1980 and runs the 4.9-litre engine and manual transmission, and is one of the rare 50 right-hand drive examples out of 210 Kyalamis ever made.
