Rare Cameras Up For Sale
32nd WestLicht Photographica Auction

WestLicht, the antique camera auction expert that offers probably one of the best all-round services including identification, cleaning, valuation, packing and shipping, will hold the 32nd WestLicht Photographica camera auction in Vienna on 10 March. Over 500 antique cameras, lenses and accessories, mainly from Leica, will be available for public bidding. The focus easily lands on the Leica 0 series camera, which is one of the rarest collections in the history of the camera with only about 25 Leica produced in 1923 for testing the market response. One was sold at the 2014 WestLicht auction as the highest price product (at over 2 million euros).

As for the Leica 0 Series camera at the coming auction, it is extremely well-preserved and well-functioning and all components (including the paintwork) are original. Equipped with matching lens cover and original folding viewfinder, this camera is possibly the best-preserved original 0 series Leica that still exists! It is understood that only about three examples are fitted with the original folding viewfinder, and this particular example also has the unique film spool and take-up spool. Other significant auction items include the Leica II (Mod. D) with an alligator skin and gold-plated body, the almost brand-new Leica IIId, the extremely rare Leica Prototype Halfframe camera with red leather body and the first Nikon model Nikon One.
