2017 Passione Caracciola rally

There is a certain charm to historic rallies. Part of this charm perhaps, is seeing such mesmerising classic machines roam free in natural environments rather than being stuck amongst urban landscapes. The classic 2017 Passione Caracciola rally, held in honour of three-time Grand Prix European champion Rudolf “Karratsch” Caracciola, recently took place from June 21 to June 25.

This year’s event started in Milan and ended in Lugano, with the first stopover at Monza. The participants had the chance to join special trials at the Formula 1 race track Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, and witnessed vintage DTM vehicles such as the Mercedes 190 E Evo driven by Maro Engel and Bernd Schneider. The rally continued through the beautiful St Moritz, Davos and Arosa. Upon reaching Lugano the fleet rode uphill and arrived at their final destination, Kurhaus Cademario Hotel & Spa, where the prize ceremony also took place in front of the incomparable view of Lake Lugano.
