2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

Chevrolet has introduced the Camaro ZL1 as the new race car for the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in replacement of the Chevrolet SS race car.

While specific details have yet to be released, Chevrolet engineers have employed an array of tools, including computational fluid dynamics analysis and reduced-scale and full-scale wind-tunnel testing for optimising the Camaro ZL1’s aerodynamic performance while keeping the design elements.

The Camaro ZL1 race car will debut next February during Daytona Speedweek for the season kickoff. Joining the ZL1 will be the Camaro SS which has been racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series since 2013.

“Racers have long relied on Camaro to win races and championships in amateur and professional sports car and drag racing, as well as the NASCAR Xfinity Series,” said Jim Campbell, vice president of Chevrolet Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “We look forward to racing the Camaro ZL1 in the premier Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.”
